“Get Off My Bus” Tip #31

Filed under: Look in the Mirror,Making Decisions,Motivation,Stress Management,Take Control — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 8:19 am

Tip #31…DO THIS TODAY:

Find what is went right.

Remember…life is not about what happens TO us. Life is all about how WE CHOOSE TO RESPOND to what happens to us. Rarely can we control what is happening, but we can always control how we choose to react to what is happening.

We are hard-wired to stress out. Therefore, we create a great deal of our own stress. Let me assure you that replacing your default reaction with this habit is as easy as flipping a switch!

When you stop looking for what went wrong and start looking for what went right, it is really easy to find the joy in your life!

Stay inspired!

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #30

Filed under: Look in the Mirror — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 8:24 am

So…who are you?
What could you be before someone told you that you could not? What could you be before YOU told yourself you could not? Think back to your childhood for a moment. Could you have been a super hero? Of course you could…all you had to do was put on a cape. Any old towel or blanket would do. Did you ever own a pair of shoes that made you run faster just because they were that cool? Sure, we all did. I could be a firefighter. All I needed was a bright red hat and a little imagination. I could be a ballerina. I didn’t really need anything for that…other than my own thoughts. I could be the strongest person in the world. I could be an astronaut discovering new planets. I could be the smartest, best, fastest, most incredible anything I wanted to be. Why? Because I believed I could.
Tip #30…:DO THIS TODAY:

Start believing in yourself again.

So…when did you stop believing? We all did at some point. Remember how you argued the first time someone told you those shoes could not make you run faster or that cape would not make you fly? “Yes they do!” we would yell. We could not fathom life without the impossible…simply because everything WAS possible. When did you stop believing in possibilities? We all did at some point.
Start believing in yourself again. Start right now! What will you look back on one day and regret that you never did? You are the only one who can prevent that from happening.
You cannot move forward until you switch off “auto-pilot!” Pull out that super hero cape and imagine some possibilities!

Embrace Dr. Seuss’ simple reality, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #29

Filed under: Look in the Mirror,Making Decisions,Motivation,Take Control — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 8:14 am

Tip #29…DO THIS TODAY:

Choose not to have at least 1 regret.

Pick something about which you have said, “one day, I’m going to do that,” and put it in motion!

Mark Twain said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the things you did do.”

No more regrets…just start with 1 little thing, today.

“Get Off My Bus” #28

Filed under: Making Decisions,Stress Management,Take Control — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 8:35 am

Tip #28…DO THIS TODAY:

Get back your lost 30 minutes.

We are all looking for more time. Interestingly enough, we all waste time everyday by not doing 3 simple things. Adjust your thinking and doing to the 3 steps below and finds an extra 30 minutes everyday!

1. Spend 5 minutes in “the NOW.” Stop “going through the motions.” Spend 5 minutes every evening taking a quick look at your schedule for the next day and getting the things together that you need to walk out the door with in the morning. If you are on your way home and need gas, get it today, not tomorrow when you are in a rush because you overslept. 5 minutes spent the day or night before in preparation time can literally save you hours each week in reacting time!
2. Write it down! How simple is that, yet how often it is not done. Carry a little notebook of your choice and just write things down. As thoughts enter your mind (calling someone, writing a letter, e-mailing, responding, calling the bank, good ideas, picking up dry cleaning, blah, blah, blah…) jot it down. I do not have to tell you that those thoughts leave your mind faster than they enter.
3. Review your notebook as part of your 5 minutes! In other words, part of #1 above needs to include #2 above. You will be amazed at the “little things” that no longer get missed.

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #27

Filed under: Look in the Mirror — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 10:19 am

Tip #27…DO THIS TODAY:

Stop making things more difficult than they really are.

When you step back and truly understand the power of the following 3 concepts, you are finally on your way to “getting it!” Do not make this more difficult than it really is…

1. If you are ever looking for answers outside of yourself, you are not going to find many answers
2. Answers are useless if you are asking the wrong questions
3. If you bring the “right” people into your life and get the “wrong” people out of your life, you will undoubtedly find “success” (whatever that means to you)

Tip #26…DO THIS TODAY:

Stop complaining about something.

Maya Angelou once said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.”

It cannot be put more simply than that!

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #25

Filed under: Making Decisions,Take Control — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 8:27 am

Tip #25…DO THIS TODAY:

De-clutter your surroundings!

After the death of an elderly relative, seeing a family go through a house and personal belongings makes you realize that there are things that meant so much to people a couple of generations ago that have little or no meaning to a more current generation. Things like china and “the good silver” mean nothing to my generation. It is nice to have something that belonged to my grandmother or grandfather or someone who meant something to me, but it is more important to me to keep the memories and “ditch the stuff.” If you are keeping things for the wrong reasons (for example, “I can’t throw that out, it was my grandmother’s” instead of “that is important to me because there is a wonderful memory about my grandmother attached to it”), then it is festering. Deep down, that stuff is a burden to you and to the memory of someone you loved. The memories are important, the basement full of “stuff” you will never use is not. Imagine if you could get some of that “stuff” in to the hands of someone who could create their own important memories with it. That is empowering.

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #24

Believe that everything, good or bad, happens for a reason.

Adhere to the philosophy that life is not about what happens to you, life is about how you choose to respond to what happens to you. Guess what? Life happens to ALL of us! Sometimes good things happen and sometimes really crappy things happen. That is called life. Realize that all of the good and the bad have some purpose for being there. People get on and get off of your bus constantly. Some do so to help you, some to hurt you. Some are there to teach you, while other step into your life to simply hold up a mirror (these are the ones that teach you the most). They ALL serve a purpose. Be aware of that and become a student!

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #23

When the unexpected happens, drop the drama.

Go with the flow! Do not dwell on things if the plan changes. Find the humor in it and just keep moving. Enjoy the journey!

You have most likely seen the saying “Live…Laugh…Love.” I would like to add one thing to that – “Live…Laugh…Love…and Let it Go!” What I call “Columbo Days,” when there is always “just one more thing,” happen not because we are disorganized, not because we are forgetful, but rather because we have created a bunch of stress for ourselves that is totally unnecessary. It is that self-imposed stress which causes us to stop paying attention to very simple things and spend the day running around in circles feeling out of control instead of simply getting the task done.
The moments when you feel out of control are often your greatest opportunities to take control…you just have to stop complaining long enough to see that!

Taking control is fun and empowering and so much less exhausting than what many people currently do. So Live, Laugh, Love and Let it Go.

“Get Off My Bus” Tip #22

Filed under: Making Decisions,Take Control — Robin Sacks...Speaker, Author, Motivator @ 7:50 am

Tip #22…DO THIS TODAY:

Choose to be proactive instead of reactive.

When you let things happen, you simply REACT to everything that happens. When you make things happen, you do something BEFORE you know you will need to do something. Let’s recap rule #1…if you are constantly reacting to things, how much control do you have? If you said “zero” you would be correct! However, if you became proactive about some of those things, would you have more control over them? AHA! Yes…of course, you would. So…who is creating a lack of control? Again, you are. The really, really cool thing about that??? YOU have total control over doing something about it. As a matter of fact…it is the ONLY thing over which you have total control! You can play the game of life in one of two ways. You can play “to win” or you can play “not to lose.” If you choose to play “not to lose,” do not expect to win very often.
